abilify and remeron

I have been on Zoloft 150mg for about a week and feel more agitated, nervous, anxiety and still depressed so my psychiatrist just added Abilify (5mg) and Remeron along with a thyroid RX to my Zoloft 150mg. I feel this is way too much as I was hoping to change to a different SSRI instead but he didn't feel that would help. I've been taking Ativan .

I would give Remeron a shot before trying Abilify as Remeron is supposed to have reduced side effects compared to several other antidepressant and you are subject to less interactions.

I have bipolar disorder as well and am on abilify. I take it with remeron at night. It works great and has few side effects! However, Lexapro is dangerous for people who have bi polar disorder. It can have the tendancy to make you manic. While I was on Lexapro, I was wired and agitated all the time. So try a different anti depressant. Remeron is great esp for sleep. But, I've also heard Wellbutrin is great...and doesn't make you gain weight...so give that a try. Good luck to you.

Different people has different side effects. I take Abilify (its not Ambilify) and it hasn't caused any weight gain and helps with depression. Abilify has caused me to have akathisia (restless movements of legs/feet). I take propranolol for it and found that it also is used for anxiety without being a benzo. It is a beta blocker which is primarily used to lower blood pressure.

I was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder by a primary doctor in a mental health facility. I am currently taking 5mg of Abilify and 30mg of Remeron. Today I am going to see a NP to possibly change my medicine or add something in for anxiety. I will keep this thread updated on what happens. I'm nervous about if the NP is going to change my medication or not. Not to mention that my IBS is acting up, too. I just thought I would introduce myself formally.

Hello, I took abilify for five years, One thing is that when you take ablilify it is added with another medication usually, and i lost all of my hair while taking it but not because of they abilify, it was from the depicote or what ever-eles i took, but after i got off the depecote, my hair grew back my hair is growing now, but if you havent took it very long you may be having other side effects like the shaking, i will say that dose go away and you get very much better..

im so upset, my dr put me on abilify in september with my effexor, my libido got very low and i wasnt able to come, now the dr is taking me off effexor and abilify and put me on celexa...now my libdo is completely gone and i cant come at all....it was the only thing i had left i was able to enjoy, i could always get in the mood and able to come fast and at least 2 times, now it just hurts and i dont want to do it....is this from the celexa?

I was on remeron and that made me gain weight, then he just did change my meds and diagnosed me borderline bipolar. I hope that helps you, I would try it for atleast a month good luck!

In sept 08 i was o n remeron and gained almost 10 lbs in a month and i havnet lost it now im on abilify and im gaining more weight i have read u can gain up to 50 pounds in one year on this med im only on 5 mg its helping my depression but if i continue to gain weigh i will be more depressed see dr next week does abilify cause that much weight gain anyone else out there on it for just depressiona nd anxiey im also on klonopin i take the abilfy at night would it make a difference if i took it in

08 and a great Dr. treated me with Remeron and Ambien for sleep I did great and just tapered off Remeron and now I take Cymbalta and Lyrica for 2 months so far I'm good....Now I've got Fibro so my Bi-polar seems like a small thing. I do know what happens when I get off med.s tho I get manic but Remeron is great. It got me sane and on track when nothing else worked. Best of luck to you!

This weight gain is thought to increase the risk of diabetes (see Abilify and Diabetes) or other health problems. Therefore, if you are noticing a rapid or large increase in weight while taking Abilify, make sure to talk with your healthcare provider. You don't say how long it's been since you stopped Abilify, you may need to give it more time.

I am on 20mg of Lexapro and 30mg of Remeron. Was on 10mg Lexapro and 45mg Remeron, but the weight gain is very real so I am attempting to get off the Remeron. When I asked what I could add to the Lexapro (since I have treatment resistant depression) I was told Seroquil might be a good addition. Sometimes I'm not sure if my doctor really knows what he's talking about. I don't want to gain weight on Seroquil after finally getting off Remeron.

About a year and a half ago I was put on Remeron for depression and a month or two following that I was diagnosed with Bi-Polar and was put on Depakote too. I've never been so MANIC in my life!! This past year and a half has been hell trying to stabilize my moods. I've tried Lithuim and Abilify too and still it hasn't helped. So, I'm back on Depakote. When they upped to dose of Remeron from 30mg to 45mg, because they said I seemed more down and depressed.

I have always suffered from major depression and a mood disorder even though they don't come out and say it's bipolar, they treat is as such and it's helped. I've been on Abilify for a year now and I was doing so well but now I'm tired all the time, have no motivation, and feel overall blah! I see my pdoc next week and I wonder if I need a new mood stabelizer or a higher dose of Abilify.

You mention Abilify and Geodon, are they somewhat equivalent? If I remember (my wife's meds) Abilitgy costs about $15 a pill enough to give someone anxiety (I posted on the subject a couple of weeks back but at the moment don't clearly recall it was Abilitfy). Or to help with weight loss as one can't afford food any longer. Is the Geodon less expensive and also less of a weight gain issue?

It's hard telling but I was put on Geodon and then Risperdal and finally Abilify and I have a history of alcohol abuse and you're not supposed to drink while on any of those and I never did anything like that but those are different medications and I am a different person altogether. I would say if he doesn't normally do this ever while intoxicated something is out of whack there but some people have a tendency to eventually turn violent no matter what while being drunk.

Some of the one I am familiar with are Abilify, Geodon, Depakote, Lamictal, Lithium, Remeron, Aoloft, Prozac, and many many more. You may want to post and ask for a website link to get more info. I know one site www. NAMI.org is very good and has links. I think it boils down to good old fashion research. Usually it's a combination of 2 or 3 meds to treat the different symtoms of Bipolar. Most people are not on just one med.

How well can Effexor XR 150 mg plus Remeron 15 mg help depression, and how long does it take to see any improvement?

t know what to do about it anymore. I feel hopeless!!. I have tried cipralex, Zyprexa, Effexor, abilify, Remeron, Xanax, lexotanil, faverin, zoloft, anafranil, resperidone, rivotril, and 2 other meds that I don't remember.

I've heard that is one of the drawbacks for Remeron. I've only been on it for a month and no weight gain except the 5 lbs that I had lost from the terrible withdrawl side effects of the Paxil. My Doctor only plans to keep me on it until my body gets use to the Prozac....and I agree I'm ok on the Remeron, but don't feel as though it is helping me that much.

I had a misfortunate issue , i thought that i had a problem with my anus sphincter because once i inserted a huge "toy" inside of it and i saw a hemoroid which i got there after one year, i thought that it was a result from my action.

What you experience may be quite different from what everyone has posted. You might take Abilify and find that you have no side effects and it helps you and you will continue to take it. You might find that you get side effects that you can't tolerate and then you will quit it. The only way to find out is by trying it.

I am on 90 mg of Cymbalta and just started 15 mg of Abilify for depression. My doctor has titrated me up on the Abilify gradually. My question is for anyone who take 15 mg of Abilify for depression. Have you experienced any side effects? When you're depressed and trying to get your medications right it just isn't fun. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
