abilify and rage

I am on meds just started Abilify today. She goes to the doc with me. She expresses what I do and her views are like night and day to mine. She resents that I don't work and she is the bread winner and in the past i used drugs to hide my pain and my pride. I only straighten up when she threatens divorce. Then I see what I have done. I ask her to point it out to me and she's tired of doing that. She doesn't have a life.

He hits his sister who is 10 and his 63 year old Grandma and his Aunt who is handicapped. He smiles if you spank him and goes into a rage if you tell him "NO" and he can scream for hours and I mean scream like he has the devil stuck in his throat. I have tried every method and book I can find. He is in trouble at school almost daily and the bus driver has had to pullover several times because of him. He was suspended from school last week.

1-3 times a month and lately more often I have panic/rage attacks. They can involve psychosis in that I may hear people say things that they didn't say (maybe, or they are lying) I also do not think rationally. I feel like electricity is running through my body. If I catch it soon enough I can leave the situation, smoke a cigarette or use snus (I am not a smoker so using this 3-5 times a month gives me such a nicotine high it clears my mind and slows my body.

I am so sorry to hear you're having problems. I completely understand because I have had similar problems with meds in the past. I would suggest talking to your doc and asking for a change in meds or see if there is another drug that you can take in addition to combat the mood problems. I take 100mg of Pristiq and 2 mg of Abilify.

What you experience may be quite different from what everyone has posted. You might take Abilify and find that you have no side effects and it helps you and you will continue to take it. You might find that you get side effects that you can't tolerate and then you will quit it. The only way to find out is by trying it.

Well, I am not a doctor and I cannot dx you but I strongly suggest you make appt. with a physc-doc and get some help. Being angry and wanting to hurt someone and actually taking action are two different things, however, it is dangerous thoughts because where is one's breaking point. I know you don't want to hurt anyone or you would not be on this site asking for help. Being Bipolar, I also have sudden and intense anger and rage...comes on quickly and and with a vengence...

I am on 90 mg of Cymbalta and just started 15 mg of Abilify for depression. My doctor has titrated me up on the Abilify gradually. My question is for anyone who take 15 mg of Abilify for depression. Have you experienced any side effects? When you're depressed and trying to get your medications right it just isn't fun. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have only started the Abilify so far on day 3 … I was supposed to start together but I dropped the pristiq bottle and pills fell on floor now because of contamination ocd I can’t take them and insurance won’t pay for a refill yet so doctor says just take the Abilify for now , I’m noticing it is helping me to change my behavior versus the ssri just kinda helped me manage my existing behaviors but never had courage or motivation to change my behaviors so I’m hoping that’s where Abilify will come

I am Bi Polar with psychotic features and was experiencecing someithing very similar to what your son goes through but it was more a rage/angel and demons thing - SEROQUEL! Total life saver. I take it daily. The PDR and DSM IV doesn't recommend it but the FDA jsut approved it for longer use in the treatment of BiPolar Disorder for mania and depression.

Hi I have been on 5 mg of abilify and also klonopin since jan..09.Recently i have been having severe dizziness.,y ear hurt so wen to dr put me on antibotic...Abilify has helped my depression so much but im wondering f it would start causing dizziness after being on it since jan 20 09...

Hello, I took abilify for five years, One thing is that when you take ablilify it is added with another medication usually, and i lost all of my hair while taking it but not because of they abilify, it was from the depicote or what ever-eles i took, but after i got off the depecote, my hair grew back my hair is growing now, but if you havent took it very long you may be having other side effects like the shaking, i will say that dose go away and you get very much better..

There is a connection with taking Abilify and acne .

Have you told your doctor you are having issues with anger? Anger and rage is not a stranger to bipolar and mood stabilizers or antiphyscotics are helpful. Best of luck to you. Wine and Roses.

Did you ask your pharmacist if abilify and ambien and any other meds you might be taking, including OTC meds, might be interacting to cause you to feel like this? Sometimes pharmacists know more about adverse drug interactions than dr's. Just a thought.

Are you saying you were put on Abilify before you were put on Celexa? Because if you've only been on Celexa a few days, Abilify wouldn't be appropriate. It's only a last resort medication because of its side effect profile and because it isn't known to work by itself, only in combination with another med. If, for example, you have depression, and you're on medication and its helping but not quite enough and you've tried everything else, that's what Abilify is for.

When I looked up weight gain and bipolar medications, Abilify was at the bottom of the list for weight gain, Geodon people gained the least then Abilify. I'm on 2mg. of Abilify and in the begining you tend to feel sleepy, that's why they start you on it at bedtime. I would be surprised if Abilify caused a racing heart but you definately have to tell your doc about that. I was also on Wellbutrin and had to come off because it caused to much anxiety.

Now the abilify, I was suppose to increase from 2 mg today to 4mg, I wanted to tknow if 2 mg was a thereaputic dose and also can I take have of that and take 1 mg since Im so sensititve and that might work, Its been keeping me up at night the abilify, makes my mind and body racy and alert...Waiting for my dr to call back, but sometimes that doesnt happen......

t help the depression though so my doc put me on Abilify and Zoloft. the side effects of nausea and blurry vision is the only problems i have with it so far. Trazodone helps the insomnia but i've tried Seroquel twice and even a small dose made me sleep more than i should have been. my husband told me to stop taking it after i slept 18-19 hours straight on it. i've tried Prozac and Lexapro recently but those weren't helping.

Any medication can sometimes take a week or two or longer to take full effect while some will take effect instantaneously. It all depends on the person of course. When I took Geodon I sometimes would "drool and stumble" figuratively for the former (felt really dumb some days) and literally for the latter (dragged my feet and sometimes felt drunk).

I have just started taking Aripiprazole(Abilify) and have found it to have some beneficial effects on my mood. However I am also finding myself to be extremely drowsy. I have heard that this side effect wears off with time. Has anyone else experienced this? It's the first antipsychotic I've taken that's had any effect so I don't want to stop it but the fact I can literally go to sleep while standing up is making my life difficult.

I have not heard of antipsychotics being addictive but I do know Abilify is activating and can disrupt sleep. As well although its FDA approved for bipolar its primary use is as an antipsychotic so it may not be as effective as a standard mood stabilizer.
