Common Questions and Answers about Abilify and memory

abilify

Avatar n tn I was taking this medication last August and still have the memory and concentration problems as of now. The problems have not gone away much, I would say only 50% better and it is still bad. I went to an Emory psychiatrist but they have just put me on Seroquel as of yesterday. I have stopped taking that today and while I was on it I felt very numb and could not feel emotions and I was very drowsy.
Avatar f tn am taking abilify 8 years and suffer fom random memory loss, also have experienced uncontrollable shivering . Have major problems with the psychiatrist as they simply state no other patient has experienced those symptoms. The memory loss is fustrating/social embaressing but the 'shivering' is actually very scarey. Also keep waking up at night...4 or 5 am .Am seeking info/contact with other persons who may experience the same. Am 48 years old female.

1565420 tn?1304572548 Hello, I took abilify for five years, One thing is that when you take ablilify it is added with another medication usually, and i lost all of my hair while taking it but not because of they abilify, it was from the depicote or what ever-eles i took, but after i got off the depecote, my hair grew back my hair is growing now, but if you havent took it very long you may be having other side effects like the shaking, i will say that dose go away and you get very much better..
Avatar n tn His psychiatrist should change that one. Geodon can cause heart arrythmia. Abilify is much safer. Actually the Cogentin and Inderal (a blood pressure medication) might causing the memory loss but they are used to control extra-pyramidal side effects and are necccesary for that.
Avatar f tn I have been recently diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and am currently taking the medication ABILIFY..... i have noticed lapses in my memory and difficulty concentrating. Also i can't shake the lethargy either. I am just concerned with the quality of my life because the side effects of my medication are really affecting me. The reason i have continued on this medication is becuase it is one of the only antipsych medications approved for adolescents according to my psych doc.
Avatar n tn Lots of combinations to try and it an be find just the right thing to function. My son was activated on abilify and found seroquel worked for his needs better. The good news is that the activation began immediately so we didn't waste time trying to find out if it would work or not as it wasn't a fit for him. So much of this is trial and error. Anyway, thanks for posting your experience!
Avatar f tn s probably why my mental thinking and memory has been **** lately. My diaphragm feels weak and Its hard to even laugh or talk. I also have brain fog and I feel like a zombie. I've also had headaches and I got my wisdom teeth out so the brain fog is worse. I'm going to physical therapy, cause I have scoliosis and neck pain and jaw pain. I feel like my face is a mask and I can't ******* smile or express emotions anymore. I'm so apathetic and I can't like anything.
Avatar n tn She has started having agitation and agrressive verbal outburts, up at night, paranoia. Dr wants to put her on Abilify, but I am very concerned about the side effects of this drug.
Avatar n tn the abilify and lamictal should control the manic episodes for you. I too was on depakote and hated the weight gain and confusion -- and it was a very gradual process to decrease the dosage (with my doc's help) until I was finally able to get off it. I am now on lamictal 200mg and lexapro 20mg.
712802 tn?1274645485 What you experience may be quite different from what everyone has posted. You might take Abilify and find that you have no side effects and it helps you and you will continue to take it. You might find that you get side effects that you can't tolerate and then you will quit it. The only way to find out is by trying it.
Avatar m tn I am on 90 mg of Cymbalta and just started 15 mg of Abilify for depression. My doctor has titrated me up on the Abilify gradually. My question is for anyone who take 15 mg of Abilify for depression. Have you experienced any side effects? When you're depressed and trying to get your medications right it just isn't fun. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have only started the Abilify so far on day 3 … I was supposed to start together but I dropped the pristiq bottle and pills fell on floor now because of contamination ocd I can’t take them and insurance won’t pay for a refill yet so doctor says just take the Abilify for now , I’m noticing it is helping me to change my behavior versus the ssri just kinda helped me manage my existing behaviors but never had courage or motivation to change my behaviors so I’m hoping that’s where Abilify will come
Avatar f tn Hi I have been on 5 mg of abilify and also klonopin since jan..09.Recently i have been having severe dizziness.,y ear hurt so wen to dr put me on antibotic...Abilify has helped my depression so much but im wondering f it would start causing dizziness after being on it since jan 20 09...
Avatar f tn I am currently on Tegretol, Lamictal, Cyprelex and Abilify. I am thinking of asking my doctor to add on Topomax. I have read that it helps with weight loss and I am having a really hard time with my weight due to all of the other meds. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?? Thank you in advance.
Avatar n tn There is a connection with taking Abilify and acne .
Avatar f tn The groggy feeling you get from xanax will go away after a week of normal dosage. I take zoloft 100mg and appx 1 mg of xanax daily and Im never tired or groggy.
Avatar f tn Hi I am also on methadone and Abilify and I think it is affecting the effects of the methadone let me know if you found anything out my email is mafiia.mii.
Avatar m tn Could my medication (Abilify) be causing me to involuntarily rock back and forth seemingly at random when I'm not leaning against things? It's very subtle but becomes really noticeable when I lean forward. What is this even called? I only noticed it started happening after I took Abilify.
603543 tn?1255294450 Did you ask your pharmacist if abilify and ambien and any other meds you might be taking, including OTC meds, might be interacting to cause you to feel like this? Sometimes pharmacists know more about adverse drug interactions than dr's. Just a thought.
Avatar f tn Are you saying you were put on Abilify before you were put on Celexa? Because if you've only been on Celexa a few days, Abilify wouldn't be appropriate. It's only a last resort medication because of its side effect profile and because it isn't known to work by itself, only in combination with another med. If, for example, you have depression, and you're on medication and its helping but not quite enough and you've tried everything else, that's what Abilify is for.
Avatar n tn When I looked up weight gain and bipolar medications, Abilify was at the bottom of the list for weight gain, Geodon people gained the least then Abilify. I'm on 2mg. of Abilify and in the begining you tend to feel sleepy, that's why they start you on it at bedtime. I would be surprised if Abilify caused a racing heart but you definately have to tell your doc about that. I was also on Wellbutrin and had to come off because it caused to much anxiety.
Avatar f tn Any one on Klonopin and abilify for depression and anxiety...Does any one take thesse natural products witht them.
Avatar f tn Any medication can sometimes take a week or two or longer to take full effect while some will take effect instantaneously. It all depends on the person of course. When I took Geodon I sometimes would "drool and stumble" figuratively for the former (felt really dumb some days) and literally for the latter (dragged my feet and sometimes felt drunk).
