abilify and energy

I am on Abilify 20mg and I have absolutely no energy. I am in bed for 3 and 4 days at a time. I am getting really discouraged. I am better mentally than I was, but I am zombie like, unable to participate in my own life. Is the Abilify causing this? Or perhaps I need another medication added? I don't know what to think.

Did you ask your pharmacist if abilify and ambien and any other meds you might be taking, including OTC meds, might be interacting to cause you to feel like this? Sometimes pharmacists know more about adverse drug interactions than dr's. Just a thought.

I am on 90 mg of Cymbalta and just started 15 mg of Abilify for depression. My doctor has titrated me up on the Abilify gradually. My question is for anyone who take 15 mg of Abilify for depression. Have you experienced any side effects? When you're depressed and trying to get your medications right it just isn't fun. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Don't take abilify with Cymbalta! I take Cymbalta and then I was also put on abilify shortly before my family and I went on vacation to Disneyworld and it was the worst time I ever had! I felt like I was going to jump out of my skin! I was so agitated and could not sleep. I would pace at night! I did get off abilify when I got back and am just on Cymbalta now and am better but I am experiencing things like headaches and heart palpitations so may be getting off Cymbalta, too.

When I looked up weight gain and bipolar medications, Abilify was at the bottom of the list for weight gain, Geodon people gained the least then Abilify. I'm on 2mg. of Abilify and in the begining you tend to feel sleepy, that's why they start you on it at bedtime. I would be surprised if Abilify caused a racing heart but you definately have to tell your doc about that. I was also on Wellbutrin and had to come off because it caused to much anxiety.

Lareina, I did say that medications are different for everyone. you may have read my post out of context somewhere. I want to give you a chance to explain why you're so upset. and if there's anything we can do for you. However, I want you to understand that we are trying to be supportive here. But I hope you're aware you are on the bipolar forum. The people who come here have bipolar disorder or a friend or family member that has bipolar disorder and they're looking for help.

I mix seroquel and abilify without issued only the Abilify has finally gotten my appetite under control and im losing weight Seroquel causes weight gain but nothing like the weight gain with Zyprexa.

I am currently on Abilify alone for mood stabilization. I do find it activating rather than sedating. I however wish I had something really activating to get me up out of my depression and super low to no energy which it doesn't seem to help me with.

I take 20 mg of Abilify and have found it helpful in both controlling my psychotic symptoms and in giving me more energy. What other meds are you on? Another medication I take as a mood stabiliser is Lamogitrine (Lamictal) really helps to guard against the depressive side of the illness.

My doctor is trying to raise my energy level and simplify my meds. W ould ambilify help with energy? These seem like alot of meds to me,( my fomer doctor kept adding them as the depression did not get better). I am stable now but feel neither here nor there sort of emotionless. I’m gaining weight on the abilify and I cannot take anymore. I am recovering from anorexia nervosa and have been at a healthy weight for a few months now so the added weight is unbearable. My question is if excessive sweating is a withdrawal side effect that anyone here has experienced and if so how long does this last? It’s really bad and I keep taking showers but I’m sweating so bad under my arms. It is disgusting. Also how long do Abilify withdrawals last?

The hallucinations were auditory and visual as well. The come and go, but on the abilify they are gone. My GP just SUGGESTED it was aggitated depression...which would explain the hallucinations and dillusions. I am in the U.K now and they are reviewing my charts. In American they dianosed me with schizophrenia, and late with bipolar, but they found out it was wrong. They finally agreed that I had schizoid affective disorder. Anyway, there is no clear route yet and all of them seem wrong to me.

Pllease don't drink!! There are so many medications out there, you just didn't get started off on the right one. I suggest you see your psychiatrist, not a family doctor, and see about a new medication. They don't all make you groggy and foggy. I take 2mg of Abilify and it's been a godsend. I have my energy, finally and I was like you, on the couch unable to do anything for months. I was diagnosed with depression but come to find out it was bipolar.

I took Abilify and Effexor (seperately) as well, Abilify was the last drug aimed at controling my largely depressive BP. It made me feel blah, less deeply depressed, but it gave me the rare side effect of blurred vision! It was taking a dosage of Effexor which gave me my first flamingly manic episode and caused me to be rediagnosed from severe depression to BP.

So if I can find some supplement adjunct to my AD then i can lessen my dosage of AD which in fact i tried it once and found myself doing well but my energy was low. I heard that addreal can be useful. Perhaps abilify is an AP that works alone without an AD. Would you kindly suggest something. i.e. abilify say if it doesn't really need an AD.

if you bp then your more than ,.Ikey high and low is what bp is..the ablifi can make you mania even when its working..but you also need to be on something for deppreshion such as lamictail.....talk this over with ur pdoc..but yes most bi polars are on ore than 1 med...some takes yrs to get there =combo..i took ablifi it threw me into mania in 4 days...

I have only started the Abilify so far on day 3 … I was supposed to start together but I dropped the pristiq bottle and pills fell on floor now because of contamination ocd I can’t take them and insurance won’t pay for a refill yet so doctor says just take the Abilify for now , I’m noticing it is helping me to change my behavior versus the ssri just kinda helped me manage my existing behaviors but never had courage or motivation to change my behaviors so I’m hoping that’s where Abilify will come

I just started Pristiq and Im also on ativan and abilify............wondering if anyone else has taken these meds together.I felt great after taking the pill last night now today im kinda scared and spacey feeling...any thoughts?

Hi I have been on 5 mg of abilify and also klonopin since jan..09.Recently i have been having severe dizziness.,y ear hurt so wen to dr put me on antibotic...Abilify has helped my depression so much but im wondering f it would start causing dizziness after being on it since jan 20 09...

They put her on Lithium and then added abilify a week later. The abilify gave her horrible side effects and I never want to see my daughter in that condition again! I detest the drug Abilify. It is a reckless drug in my opinion. I have been prescribed Lamictal now for 3 years. It is the right med for me. I am not on the floor with depression and do not gain weight. I wish some could challenge their docs.

Hello, I took abilify for five years, One thing is that when you take ablilify it is added with another medication usually, and i lost all of my hair while taking it but not because of they abilify, it was from the depicote or what ever-eles i took, but after i got off the depecote, my hair grew back my hair is growing now, but if you havent took it very long you may be having other side effects like the shaking, i will say that dose go away and you get very much better..

s advised only to be taken in the morning after breakfest.and to do so light exercise or meditation to help burn down that excessive energy as your mind and body tries to draw focus earlier on the day rather then later. I admittedly had to take zoplicone for like 2 months when i first got put on abilify. But Valerian works wonders too and you can get that cheap & strong at any chinese tea store in the form of sleep tea. I'd blend it with a honey & camonile tea for flavour.

Doc replaced the geodon with abilify 15mg a week ago and I have great energy. Im afraid I will gain weight rather than lose, but I am more active so I have hope I will lose more weight ( 30 yr old female 190 lbs. 5'5) Should I keep my hopes up to lose weight or is it to soon to say?

I;m on 2mg of Abilify and I love it but maybe you need another med with it, perhaps an antidepressant? Usually those of us with Bipolar disoder are on more than one medication. It's a matter of finding the right combination.I would get nack on the phone to the doc and tell him/her what's going on. They may change the meds alltogether. Don't get frustrated, it's part of the process, believe me I've been on everything all with no effect or bad side effects.

One thing you might ask your doctor if you can try is stopping the seroquel and starting abilify in its place. Abilify is approved as a monotherapy or adjunct treatment for BP I, and is also approved as an antidepressant add-on, so if depression is your problem, it might work. You could also try other mood stabilizers like depakote, which has pretty good antimanic effects, or tegretol, or lamictal if you mainly get depression. Also, have you ever tried lithium?
