I wouldn't stop taking medicines without talking to your dr first. The symptoms you're having could just be from starting both the Abilify and the bc. It'll take your body a while to adjust to being on birth control, and spotting is common when you first start taking it. You're taking new medicines that you weren't before, your body has to get used to it.

I am on clonazepam, zoloft, ambien, and abilify. Can this make my birth control pills (Junel) less effective? I had unprotected sex after my period ended on my week off of the pills, it ended early which was strange because it often lasts a long time. I am a day late for my period now.

I was diagnosed bi polar a couple years ago. I took my Meds (seroquil and celexa) everyday and did therapy regularly. When I found out I was pregnant the Drs took me off all my Meds because of potential birth defects. Now I'm so moody, depressed, crying a lot, and just feeling deflated. I was wondering if this is because of the pregnancy or am I having my symptoms return? Anyone else Going through the same thing?

This, I believe, was postpartum depression, and it seemed to lift once I started birth control 3 months later. However--since then, every month (random and unrelated to my cycle) I get anywhere from 3 to 14 days of depression and anxiety. The rest of the month, I'm totally normal and myself.

Different people has different side effects. I take Abilify (its not Ambilify) and it hasn't caused any weight gain and helps with depression. Abilify has caused me to have akathisia (restless movements of legs/feet). I take propranolol for it and found that it also is used for anxiety without being a benzo. It is a beta blocker which is primarily used to lower blood pressure.

I have been on Abliilfy for 6 months and I am putting on weight like crazy. Sometimes I eat all day long and cant control it. Then other times I can go without eating all day. I dont understand this. Can someone explain this to me because my doctor isnt. I brought up putting me on something to control my eating and she just blew me off.

So have some patience and understand that your symptoms may not go away right away and that it might take some trial and error before your symptoms are somewhat under control. Whatever happens, I wish you the best.

My brother still takes it to this day. Abilify made it hard for me to control my weight and motivation. I was thought to have bipolar disorder however since I have been away from my adoptive mom I have had no symptoms of mental illness. I think the first couple of weeks you are on it you are great. However, after that first month you’re less in a state of control. At that point I seem to see that true benefit of the drug is in effect. Abilify is less helpful after the first month.

I am on 5 mg , im suppose to increase it slowly to 10mg.....I feel restless all time, no concentration and my appetitie is out of control, I was like this before I started abilify, it got a littl ebetter when I started it now Im back to where I started....there are sexual problems too ......I dont see the dr at the free clinic unitl the 3rd. Should I taper off or stay on it? I also got very dizzy and sick on rides at six flags, that has never happened to me before.......

What you experience may be quite different from what everyone has posted. You might take Abilify and find that you have no side effects and it helps you and you will continue to take it. You might find that you get side effects that you can't tolerate and then you will quit it. The only way to find out is by trying it.

On Zeldox (Geodone) I lost all of it and then some to the point it was dangerous. On Abilify it seems about right. These meds have been studied and proven to do things to metabolism, especially Ziprexa.

How many of you have been on the same treatment for a long time? Like years? I was diagnosed a few months ago, and am finally starting to feel normal. I never knew normal. :) I'd like to stay on the meds long term, and I read on the abilify site that treatment shouldn't be longer than a year or so. What if something's working for you? Can't you just stay on it? Seems silly to me.

The plan is to start taking this to better control my hypomania and depressed states when they happen since the lamictal doesn't seem to be doing it. She's asked me to use the Abilify at night in place of the lamictal and if that works, replace lamictal all together - no change to the cymbalta or lithium. Does anyone have any information on Abilify - has it worked, any side affects, etc?

I am on 90 mg of Cymbalta and just started 15 mg of Abilify for depression. My doctor has titrated me up on the Abilify gradually. My question is for anyone who take 15 mg of Abilify for depression. Have you experienced any side effects? When you're depressed and trying to get your medications right it just isn't fun. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have only started the Abilify so far on day 3 … I was supposed to start together but I dropped the pristiq bottle and pills fell on floor now because of contamination ocd I can’t take them and insurance won’t pay for a refill yet so doctor says just take the Abilify for now , I’m noticing it is helping me to change my behavior versus the ssri just kinda helped me manage my existing behaviors but never had courage or motivation to change my behaviors so I’m hoping that’s where Abilify will come

You can take birth control and be pregnant on lithium and geodon combo and there are really relatively few adverse side effects!

Hello, I took abilify for five years, One thing is that when you take ablilify it is added with another medication usually, and i lost all of my hair while taking it but not because of they abilify, it was from the depicote or what ever-eles i took, but after i got off the depecote, my hair grew back my hair is growing now, but if you havent took it very long you may be having other side effects like the shaking, i will say that dose go away and you get very much better..
