Can I ask why the doctors are doing a colonoscopy rather then a endoscopy? It he is having so much abdominal pain I would have the endoscopy first. He may have an ulcer caused by H-pylori. My husband and I have suffered for years with IBS. We recently discovered that we have lyme disease. This has caused me terrible abdominal pain, heart palpitations and an irregular heart rate. There are many things it could be. I hope they are testing his stool for parasites and a possible bacterial imbalance.
This may be a little confusing but I'm worried and my doctor is gone for 2 weeks so I thought...what the heck!
I've been getting checked out for what I'm calling "episodes" I've had. Right now I am waiting on my ultrasound resaults. I had blood work done for ulcers and gullbladder both came back ok. These "episodes" consist of abdominal pain/discomfort, back pain, heaviness in my chest and down around my bra line area.
It is normal to have lower abdominal pain while in your first trimeter that's where everything is happening.

My 14 year old son started complaining of lower abdominal pain 6 days ago. The pain comes and goes but is worse after eating. He describes the pain as stabbing. It is across the whole lower abdomen but the lower right is tender when pushed on. He also has tenderness on his right lower back.
He has no fever, no vomitting, no constipation and a normal appetite. His bowel movements are normal and regular.
i am experiencing severe upper abdominal pain. I have already had my gall bladder removed so I know thats not it. Did you present to your doctor with the chief complaint of abdominal pain? Where is the abdominal pain? Are you having any symptoms regarding your GI tract other than abdominal pain, like diarrhea, constipation, gastric reflux, nausea or vomiting? If your joints continue to ache it would be wise to request your doctor run a rheumatology panel.
Abdominal pain is a common side effect. Usually it goes away after 1-2 weeks of being on suppressive therapy. If you were on valtrex suppressively a few weeks and then the abdominal pain started, assume it isn't from the valtrex and follow up on it with your provider. The abdominal pain starts when you start the medication, it doesn't occur a few weeks into it.
How long does it take to get into Cirrohsis state once infected with Hepb at 30 years age and how long a person can survive if not on treatment? Will treatment avoid cirrhosis?
