I am 54 years old and I was still pretty regular before the Tamoxifen. My gynecologist is recommending that I get a radical (abdominal) hysterectomy since I am still having periods. I had a D&C last year and had a benign polyp removed. Just had a trans-vaginal ultrasound 2 weeks ago and everything was fine.

I am due April 28 to have hysterectomy with both ovaries left .He will be removing uterus with tubes.I do not know what to expect.My Mother had hers done in her forties she said it was the best thing that she ever did.I have had so much pain as of late i just want some relief.(Pain worse after being intimate with hubby,are period time)Kind if scared here.

an abdominal hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus with or sometimes with out the cervix. a BSO bilatreral ( meaning both side) salpingo ( meaning tubes) and ooperectomy( meaning surgical removal of ovaries). So in conclusion you have had you uterus , tubes and ovvaries removed,,,I dont understand the "leave the uterus part" the removal of the uterus is a hysterectomy..
