Common Questions and Answers about Abdominal hysterectomy recovery exercise

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn Is it okay to do abdominal crunch and exercise like this or should I wait until next month... and what exercise can I do .
Avatar m tn Can you say why you need a hysterectomy? What kind of surgery are you having. Will it be a complete hysterectomy? Sorry for all the questions but the more we know the better we can help you. I did'nt gain any weight after my surgery. Make sure you eat well and exercise. You'll need 6 weeks of recovery time. That means no heavy lifting, no stairsno sex and plenty of rest. You may need hormones if you have hot flashes or mood swings, this is something you can discuss with your Dr.
Avatar n tn I also had a abdominal hysterectomy on the 13th of August, with a lot f bleeding and pain afterwards. My hemoglobin was tested and it was low. I then was sent for a catscan to find out that I have hematoma. That is all I was told. Now I am in pain and wondering when it is supposed to get better?
Avatar f tn Tiredness was my worst symptom!! But you defintely need to take it easy..unfortunately I had 3 surgeries 2 with the hysterectomy and 1 a week later but my incision took 8-10 weeks to heal...the norm is 4-6 but I know the insides need to heal alot longer..just when you feel good and do too much than you realize your quite not there yet..so please take this time to recover rather than end up doing something that can cause more damage..the Doctor will give you the clearance to exercise again..
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever had a hysterectomy that started out laparoscopic then went to abdominal? Do you have any advice for recovery ? Tips? Heads up?
1282925 tn?1286412039 We are all different and have hysterectomy for different reasons and by different means - vaginal or abdominal; therefore, our aftercare would vary greatly. Again, it's best to err on the side of caution.
Avatar f tn There are two ways to do the surgery. The old-fashioned method is called a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy, or TAH, meaning the work is done through an abdominal incision. Recovery time is easily 6 to 8 weeks. A Total Vaginal Hysterectomy (TVH) means the uterus and cervix are removed through the vagina. A laparascope is used through tiny incisions in the abdomen to release the structures that hold the uterus in place.
550018 tn?1264190965 Worried about the increase in scar tissue and recovery period after these two surgeries so close together. Does recovery ever get any easier after 2nd/3rd abdominal surgery or do you find that it gets worse? Any input would be great.
Avatar f tn I had a partial hysterectomy just under 3 weeks ago, and i was just wondering how much walking is too much? I am only going for short walks at the moment, but feel i would be able to go for longer walks, but am afraid i might push myself too hard. any advice would be helpful, thanks.
Avatar n tn and curious, why just the ovaries?? I had a total abdominal hysterectomy in January and am still recovering from that. You should be writing down all your questions and take them with you to the doctor, so that you can ask the doctor and also write down the answers. Good luck!
Avatar n tn I had a abdominal hysterectomy on june 25 I have been active but I have still gained 70 lbs why???? HELP?!!!!??
Avatar f tn Endometrial and uterus biopsies due to suspicious looking cells and thickened endometrium. Went in for d&c and hystectomy. How long until the abdominal swelling goes down and when should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn I am 27, and am having a bilateral ovary removal and radical hysterectomy in a few weeks. (Due to various problems but mainly huge production of testosterone.Possible tumor unseen by testing) Anyway, I would like to know all of the ins and outs of post op recovery and etc. I am already on estrogen since I don't produce much. I recently (8-12 weeks ago) had my appendix removed laproscopically (sp?) will the pain be like that pain??? I am a stay at home mom to a HYPER!! ADHD 4 year old son.
Avatar n tn RELIEF IN SIGHT! They have scheduled my Total Abdominal Hysterectomy for a months from now. I am worried about the hormonal replacement and recovery time. I am only 29 years old and will have to replace my hormones for the rest of my life...I think? Considering that my hormones have been way off since I was a teenager, I think I might be able to feel better if they are regulated frequently. I have heard that recovery time from abdominal hysterectomy can be anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.
Avatar n tn I have recently been reading how heart rate recovery after exercise may be the best indicator of future cardiac health. My father died at 57 of a suuden heart attack. He unfortunately never took very good care of himself. I am a 38 year old male and have been exercising for years as well as watching my diet. I recently had a physical and my doctor said I was in great shape. EKG was fine. Although my LDL is borderline high at 141, my HDL is 81 and my triglycerides are 78.
Avatar f tn Most people actually do have complications with an abdominal cut hysterectomy, and laporoscopy.
285896 tn?1237211227 hey hon my friend had the SAME problem and she had a total abdominal hystreectomy and she is only 26 so if they are doing all that they might as well take it ALL out!!! Saves u the problems!
Avatar n tn My doctor suggested that I have the rectocele surgery repair. I'm hesitating because I've heard horror stories about the recovery and pain afterwards (from other posting sites and my Mom as well who had the surgery 15 years ago). I've been navigating this site and it seems like people here are not spreading fear. Just how bad was the surgery and post op? Thanks.
647397 tn?1307056615 I am with Cherie, are the alternatives working? have you had a TVUS to check them? I am home recuperating from double surgery, one of which was a total abdominal hysterectomy. I am very happied I had mine, but it is major surgery. If you don't need it, then great, but if you do need it, just be informed about the surgery and recovery and you should be fine. I also hope all goes well with you!
483733 tn?1326798446 While playing the waiting game to hear how they are going to treat my issues, is it OK to exercise? I'm not a normally active (exercise wise) person. I don't want to do anything that would cause cysts to burst or twist. What do you think?
1043568 tn?1253450188 I am 54 years old and I was still pretty regular before the Tamoxifen. My gynecologist is recommending that I get a radical (abdominal) hysterectomy since I am still having periods. I had a D&C last year and had a benign polyp removed. Just had a trans-vaginal ultrasound 2 weeks ago and everything was fine.
Avatar n tn Has anyone experienced this? I had a total adominal hysterectomy 8 weeks ago. Recovery went generally well, but about 4th week I began to have sharp needle type pain, tingling, sensitivity to touch on my stomach above the incision. Also, pressure and pain on the lower right side of my stomach. I saw my dr for post op. She pretty much said she had no clue what it was. I've gone back to work now and these symtoms are painful. Any clues?
2131142 tn?1335648576 After many different treatments I opted for a total hysterectomy aged 36 had no children and was told before this that I probably had a 5% chance of conceiving through IVF. Although I don't get the horrible period pains I am still in almost permanent pain from what I was told were probably adhesions and I've pretty much been left for the past 10 years to cope on my own.
