Avatar n tn Hi. I'm not sure if you have what I have but I have something called Neurocardiogenic Syncope, you can do research on it on the internet. I went to Vanderbilt University in Nashville to be checked to make sure that this is what I had. It is basically that under certain circumstances/stresses, my neurologic system will cause my cardio system to shut down, my heart rate will drop very quickly and I'll pass out. The main test is called a tilt table test.
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? Gastroparesis is the result of damage to the vagus nerve, which controls the movement of food through the digestive system. On the other hand, vasovagal syncope occurs when the part of the nervous system that regulates heart rate and blood pressure malfunctions in response to a trigger. There are not enough clinical evidence linking gastroparesis to vasovagal syncope. It is important that you identify these triggers to be able to avoid syncope.
Avatar f tn ll be good for you to understand that autonomic dysfunction (be it vasovagal syncope—more commonly known as neurocardiogenic syncope— or POTS) can be accompanied by gastrointestinal [GI] symptoms including nausea, bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, cramping, and abdominal pain. The reasons for this are twofold: first, there are the direct effects of the autonomic dysfunction itself.
Avatar n tn My 17 year old son has vasovagal syncope. He has fainted 4 times and was taken by ambulance to the hospital for these episodes. The last episode resulted in a concussion and staples to the back of the head.He is a distance runner who is now not allowed to run, walk more than 1/2 mile, bike or do any other exercise. His current meds are Proamatine 10mg twice daily and 5 mg once daily, Fludrocortisone .1mg once per day. He drinks 64 ounces of Gatordae daily.
Avatar f tn How severe is this stomach pain that accompanies your syncope, on a scale of 1-10? There are people who experience vasovagal syncope in response to severe pain. On the other hand, if it's not a severe, crippling kind of pain and it doesn't seem that the pain itself is bringing on the syncope, but rather the pain is just part of the constellation of symptoms you feel as you are about to faint, that's different.
1512628 tn?1304974064 I have vasovagal syncope, orthostatic hypotension, NMS, cardiogenic syncope... What in the world is the difference? Every time I end up in a different hospital they call my fainting something else. (Each time they get my records from each other). As of yet there remains to be no ryhme or reason why I went from the occasional fainting to a wheel chair so that I could leave my bed and crawling to the bathroom behind!!! Any thoughts???
Avatar f tn Transient loss of consciousness after penetrative sex may represent an episode of vasovagal syncope.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms might be due to postural hypotension or vasovagal syncope. This is triggered by stress, sudden onset of extreme emotions, sudden standing-up, prolonged physical activity with hyperthermia, and even seeing non-pleasurable event etc.
637496 tn?1223055782 In April, my husband was diagnosed with vasovagal syncope. He was in the hospital for 4 days having testing done. They told us they couldn't find anythign to cause his fainting. He has fainted while driving, standing, sitting, you name it. He gets dizzy very often and about once out of every 6 times he will actually faint. In the hospital he was getting very upset and anxious and they placed him on paxil. Upon leaving they said this would help the fainting.
Avatar n tn Compression stockings have nothing whatsoever to do with vasovagal syncope. This not to say that the use of such a stock is inappropriate. I suggest you have a long talk with the physician or a nurse to explain exactly what is wrong. Compression stockings should only be used under medical supervision and the tightness of the stocking is a medical issue. Whatever stocking is selected make sure that it is examined by a physician or nurse to insure it is the right one.
Avatar m tn Hi All this is my first question to forum. My dad suddenly fall 15 days ago and after that we take him to doctor and did whatever they said. The actual reason for this is not clear some says it is TIA (Transient ischemic attack) some says it is "Vasovagal Syncope". also happen CT Scan of brain and it is clear. But after that event he is feeling "something is moving in his head sometime".
Avatar f tn t sound like diabetes, because your blood sugar would be consistently higher. I did some reading on Vasovagal syncope, and that does fit your symptoms. Check out these links: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vasovagal-syncope/AN00103 http://heartdisease.about.com/cs/arrhythmias/a/Syncope3_2.htm Take this information to your doctor and ask about treatments, and perhaps you should look into a specialist. It sounds like a very frustrating problem, but hang in there and seek treatment.
Avatar n tn I've never heard "malignant" used with vasovagal syncope. Is this different from regular vasovagal syncope? I too have been asystole with tilt tests, but haven't ever been told it's malignant. Finding a cause for this can be a very long process. I was told my vagus nerve was the problem for some time, but in the end, it turned out the problem was peripheral neuropathy (from an autoimmune disease) and nothing to do with the vagus nerve.
Avatar f tn My father-in-law "suffered from" defecation vasovagal syncope for more than 30 years, beginning around age 50. His trigger was a lower abdominal cramp, associated with urgency to defecate. If he were home, near the bathroom, he might get to the toilet, only to faint when another cramp, or wave of cramps would occur. He may or may not have have had an actual bowel movement.
605654 tn?1220144338 Monika, I would like the answer to that question too. My 15 year old daughter is hoping to get her license in a month, and she has vasovagal syncope. I'm not sure if the DMV asks those types of medical questions. I'm planning on taking her for her drivers test anyway. Even if she can't drive at this point, she will atleast be able to say, "she has her license." Another problem, is my daughter is scheduled to take drivers ed at her high school in January.
Avatar n tn Smoking induces a baroreflex reaction which can cause both neurally mediated syncope as well as vasovagal syncope. Syncope is just a fancy word for fainting. Although you just smoke in social situations, it seems your body doesn't like it. I know a hookah bar is fun with your friends, but maybe bow out of smoking and see how you feel. Best of luck to you!
Avatar m tn nausea, dizziness and mild abdominal pain. I have been diagnosed with Vaso-Vagal syncope but I don't think this is related. I also noticed that there are times when I go pee and even after I am done I still "feel" like I need to pee but I can't. Now when these symptoms first appeared, I originally thought I had the stomach flu (nausea, mild abdominal pain) or a urinary tract infection (peeing problem).
Avatar m tn I have MUCH experience with vasovagal syncope. You can rummage through the archives and find my full story on SEVERAL occasions, but the long and short of it is that when I pass out my HR drops to as low as 11 BPM and I apparently have a mild siezure as a result. I have a website that I found that describes nearly all available treatments for NCS/Vasovagal syndrome and will paste the url below for you. First, let me tell you what I'VE experienced.
