60 mg cymbalta weight loss

Common Questions and Answers about 60 mg cymbalta weight loss

cymbalta

I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY WITHDRWAL EFECTS FROM IT AND I TAKE 60mg MORNING AND 60mg NIGHT. THE ONLY TIME I EVER WENT OFF IS WHEN I FORGOT IT ON VACATION ONE TIME BUT I WAS FINE WITHOUT IT. AS WITH PAIN MEDS ON THE OTHER HAND, NOW THAT IS A DIFFERENT STORY.... THE ONLY THING I CAN SAY THAT WAS WHEN I WAS OFF cymbalta THE BURNING IN MY FEET CAME BACK SLIGHTLY WORSE THEN BEFORE... NOTHING MAJOR AND NO WITHDRAWAL FROM IT. NOW WITH LORTABS I HAD WITHDRAWAL AS WITH TRAMADOL.
I started on Lexipro last December, then switched to cymbalta (60mg) late spring. In all I have gained 35 pounds onto a body that was already 15lb overweight. Now with roughly 50lb to lose, I'd like to know how other people on these medications have managed their weight loss.
I lowered to 60 mg a day for a few days, (I ran out of cymbalta) then started 20 mg per Dr. prescription on Celexa. I am definitely suffering withdrawal from cymbalta. What dose should I be taking of Celexa to help avoid withdrawal? If both meds are SSRI, then why is withdrawal so bad?
I take topamax to control seizures and I must say that I am surprised doctors prescribe it for weight loss alone, and that you are willing to put up with the side effects of it just for weight loss when there are other weight loss drugs out there. The "goofiness and loss of words" bothers me tremendously. I have been taking it since April and that hasn't abated any. Unfortunately I did not experience any weight loss or loss of appetite from it like everyone says. I take 200 mg a day.
Just wondering about other peoples experiences taking these two meds together. I am to take 60mg cymbalta 1x daily (I've already been on this for awhile) and 75mg Lyrica 2x daily I had a bad reaction taking cymbalta and Savella together so am leery of trying another combination, but my PM doctor seems to think this will work. We are in a "trial and error" stage right now...and I'm so sick of feeling like a lab rat! I also worry about weight gain...
Hi there Tammy, I've been taking cymbalta 60mg since July 09. The first week was incredible. My mood and energy level changed and I enjoyed the new me for a short time. Now I'm back to myself. I'm not sure if I was to discontinue at this time if I would actually feel worse. I was told to wait 8 full weeks before discontinuing it to see it's full effect. As for side effects: weight gain isn't one I've been having. It's one of the only anti-depressant that doesn't cause weight to increase.
I take 30 mg. when I get up with lots of water. Then when I eat breakfast, I take the other 60 mg. At 60 mg. the pain & stiffness was gone. We added 30 mg. more for the depression. I have energy. Spring up from my chair without a struggle. And I have a sense of well being, I haven't had in 40 yrs, To me cymbalta is my Miracle !!! Please realize that this could work for other, but they weren't so turned off about it. Also, It requires patience & slowing going to get there !!!
Well about a month ago I started putting weight on like crazy and now with no change except from going from cymbal ta 60mg to lexapro 10mg I know cannot button up my size seven jeans when my zeros where a little big. I'm not complaining that I'm huge but I was always the fat kid growing up and with the gain happening this fast I am starting to worry. Any suggestions??
I had previously been on 30mg Prozac. We worked me up to 60mg cymbalta daily to achieve the needed results. By the end of the 1st month I felt like a new woman. I wanted to sing from the mountain tops, except that I couldn't sing! THEN, little by little the cracks started showing until I was having full blown mood swings like nothing I had ever experienced in my life. I would get sad and cry and feel such a profound sense of sadness and despair that it might last for1-3 days.
5 mg normally 4 a day but sometimes more. May 16, 20011 - June 8, 2011 - cymbalta 60mg Delayed Release caps I went to the hospital in April 2011 and was so sick. I couldn't eat, I was shakey, sweaty, vomiting, ok...I had it coming out both ends. I was told then that it was a sinus infection and with the ER doctors knowing I was taking Ultram, they prescribed me Ciprofloxacin 500mg. I had no clue that these pills weren't supposed to be taken together...
For those of you who have been taking the medication and did lose weight......how long before you noticed the weight-loss? I have been on it for about 3 weeks and have not seen any difference. I am still stressing, ver sensitive to everything, and have trouble sleeping. I do noticed that I am not as hungry as I used to be and I do have a little more energy. Please somebody respond!!
I am so happy to hear from others going through the same weight-gain / loss issues with Effexor. I just weaned myself off from 150 mg to 75 mg to nothing (I'm now using St. John's Wort as a supplement instead) in a few weeks, with lots of withdrawal symptoms/pain, etc., but I have to believe it's worth it. I, too, gained 40 pounds since starting the Effexor in February 2007.
Klonopin can cause weight loss or weight gain, depending on the individual. In me, it caused me to lose about 50 lbs. (and I am not a big individual). It also caused depression, decreased appetite, blurred vision, ineffective digestion and insomnia (it affects stages 3 and 4 of your sleep). I would highly recommend that an individual get on anything other than Klonopin (or any other of the Benzodiazepines). These are some of the most addictive drugs on the planet.
Hi, I was scared too! And I even went and found a site that has nothing but the bad side effects and then went and found another site that was all good stuff! So...I have to say WB has worked for me...and I am terrible at reading labels and side effects info...I worry I will get all of them!! I am only 150 daily...if I got to 300 my ears ring... Good luck and let me know how it works out!
I found something else though that keeps my mind in check but doesn't affect my weight negatively, but I exercise also and eat right. I'm on 10 mg of Haldol, 200 mg of Topamax and 2mg of Xanax for anxiety and that places me at the right state of mind. I just take the xanax as neeeded though so I don't get addicted.
I only went to 150 because I wanted to continue my weight loss when I thought I hit a plateau. (and I did) I did drop back to 75 mg without much of a problem. No brain sparks or anything like that. The only time I had a huge issue is once when I traveled. I took a day trip from Detroit to Phoenix. I packed 1 pill incase of problems. WELL,,, there were problems. It took me 4 days to get home. I was literally stranded in the airport for 4 days.
He has been taking 10 mg of Ambien nightly for maybe 8 YEARS, has been down to taking 5 mg for about a year. He has been taken off the Ambien, but what are the long term effects? I find alot of info on short term effects, but could his memory issues be due to AMBIEN? Please help.
I called my doctor today and the nurse told me the reason for the 150 mg was that my family doctor wanted to help me with extra weight loss and thought this might do the trick. I asked about cymbalta as I am taking 60 mg and he increased it to 120 mg, sort of nervous about this as it is designed at high doses for people with pain. That isn't me. We will see. The endocrinologist indicated my doctor had me in hyperthyroidism.
I am currently taking 60 mg of cymbalta and 2 grams (1 morning - 1 night) of Xanax. I do experience depression and panic/anxiety. How can I wean off of the drugs and get help for the depression, etc. without medication. I feel that the drugs are making me worse (anti-social, fear, weight gain, poor attitude and loss of any ambition to do anything but lay around). I desperately need help.
Wellbutrin 450mg 1xday, cymbalta 65mg 1xday, Cyclobenzaprine 10mg 1xday, Strattera 60mg 1xday, Amitriptyline 25mg 1xday, Nabumetone 500mg 4xday, Lyrica 50mg 4xday, Slulxin 500mg 6xday, and Ortho Cyclin birth control. I am having strokes now and the docs don't know why. I have taken 3 MRIs, scans, gave blood, etc....and all comes back showing nothing. I have been in the hospital and they chalk it alll up to ?muscleskelatal.
Hoping you can help... I am 39 year old female smoker who has spondolyosis (cervical and lumbar spine & nerve damage) on medication. Lyrica 150mg 3 per day, MST 60mg 2 per day, Baclofen 60mg 3 per day and cymbalta 60mg 1 per day. 16 stone in weight, height of 5'4. Rare exercise (housebound). For 4 weeks breathless, I had problems with breathlessness & exercise for long time. I am breathless even when getting dressed.
I was treated for depression for years and just got diagnosed bi-polar (finally) and was taken off of cymbalta 60mg and my ADD meds. My new pdoc put me on Lamactical. Since doing the start pack to increase from 12.5 to 25 to 50 and then this weekend 100 mg, and cycling down from the cymbalta (withdrawals sucked on that one), I am sick at my stomach all of the time and have stomach cramps, and lack of appetite. When I do eat, I get diarrhea and nausia.
There is a chance these could be medication related because I have severe nerve pain (have for 10 years) down my right leg due to some spinal issues. I'm on cymbalta 60mg, Keppra 1500mg 2x day, Yasmin 1x day, and vicoden 5/500 1 pill 5x day. Any ideas where to look or what to do? I feel crappy and miss my energy.
two weeks after i had started the topamax i went on cymbalta 30 mg the first week then 60 mg the second, but i had to stop it cause quite honestly all that medication does is mess your body up. my whole digestive track and stomach has been messed up since, i started with constipation, now i have diarrhea often, stomach cramps, and loss of appetite from the topamax. i started smoking weed this year, and its the only thing that helps me eat and maintain my weight.
Since reading your post I'm beginning to wonder if the cymbalta cause the spike--- at that time i was on 60mg. hmmmmmn. well it is now the end of my first full day off that **** (which did nothing for my muscle spasms----that's a whole 'nother story that would give me carpal tunnel to write about.....oh wait, i have that already!!!!) and the whooshing is loud and furious. hopefully it will wane like yours did. no other effects yet from withdrawl, but this is enough.
Has said maybe fibromyalgia and started me on cymbalta (30mg on my way to 60). Still no relief and not sure I believe in it. I feel like it is a diag. Of exclusion.
What may work for you is a oldly but goodie Trazadone but take it at night only and 40-50mg at most you will get a good night sleep you might want to take only 25 mg at first. It is a AD med at a much higher dosage but at 40-50 mg it a great sleep aid for many folks.Wellbutrin will tend to make you speedy or maybe not. I would not use Ambian or any others in that class too many strange things can happen and it is addicting unlike Trazadone.
Hi everyone (especially the original poster), I'm new here but I actually joined this whole MedHelp network for weight loss DUE to seroquel. Over the past six years I've reached a high dose of 400mg, and now I'm starting to experience some of the side effects: massive weight gain, slowed metabolism, messy lipids and cholesterol levels, and a bunch of other stuff that is starting to put me at risk for Type II diabetes.
